In the wrong direction, the vast majority of respondents believe that the country is moving, according to a new poll by Metron Analysis on behalf of MEGA. At the same time, the New Democracy continues to maintain its large lead over the parties that pursue it, having a difference of 17 percentage points in the vote estimate from the second-placed SYRIZA.
The country is headed in the wrong direction – The most important problems for citizens
More specifically, with regard to the direction in which the country is moving, 64% of respondents answer that Greece is on the wrong path, while 31% answer that it is moving in the right direction. The most important problems for citizens are punctuality (33%), the economy (27%), the crisis of institutions (7%), crime 6% and unemployment (5%).
As far as the highest achievements of the government are concerned, these are found in attracting tourism, in the digital transformation of the state, in the defense armoring of the country and in Greek-Turkish relations. On the other hand, its lowest performance is found in crime, dealing with corruption, dealing with inflation and dealing with natural disasters.
In fact, negative opinions about the government’s performance on the issues of inflation and crime remain consistently very high throughout the last months, showing the failure of any “corrective” initiatives and interventions.
All this translates into negative ratings for the government and the official opposition. The government has positive opinions which, despite the small increase, remain less than a few months ago, while an improvement is also recorded in the official opposition. And although the negative evaluation of the official opposition reaches 75%, it is particularly important that the government also has a clear majority critical of 62% towards it.
This image is reproduced to a certain extent in the assessment of the prime minister and the official opposition leader. There is again a small increase in the positive evaluation of the prime minister, which remains lower compared to last December, but also an increase in the positive image of Stefanos Kasselakis. And here we are dealing with a majority of negative opinions.
Voting intention and estimation in the European elections
In the electoral performances of the parties, New Democracy continues to remain first and a big difference both in the intention and in the vote estimate. More specifically, New Democracy is first with 26.8%, SYRIZA second with 12.8%, PaSoK third with 9.9%, KKE fourth with 8.1%, followed by Hellenic Solution with 6 ,*%, Freedom Sailing with 3.5%, NIKI with 3% and New Left with 2.5%. In the vote estimate, New Democracy recorded a percentage of 32.3%, SYRIZA 15.4%, PaSoK 12.0%, KKE 9.8%, Hellenic Solution 8.3%, Freedom Sailing 4.2%, NIKI 3.6% and New Left 3.1%.
Fit for prime minister
In the election for prime minister, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in first place with 35%, while the second most popular answer is “none” with 33%. They are followed by Stefanos Kasselakis (9%), Kyriakos Velopoulos (5%), Nikos Androulakis (5%) and Dimitris Koutsoumbas (4%).
