A sales and critical success at the time of the Gamecube, Samus Aran’s first game in 3D arrived this Wednesday (8) on the Nintendo Switch. Metroid Prime Remastered was a long-time request from fans of the acclaimed series and is now available digitally on the Nintendo eShop.
Launched in 2002, Metroid Prime puts the player in the protagonist’s perspective for the first time in franchise history, as the bounty hunter explores the planet Tallon IV.
With improved graphics and modernized controls – especially with regard to camera movement – the game delivers to a new generation the experience that was limited to owners of previous Nintendo consoles. Although Wii and Wii U also had the re-release of the title, the version can reach a wider audience for its improvements and the Switch’s own sales number, which surpassed GameBoy and PlayStation 4 sales this week.
For the nostalgic, the game still allows gameplay with the classic controls, in addition to updating to two analog sticks. The output addresses an issue that affected the portability of Goldeneye 007whose version for Nintendo Switch Online left some players frustrated.
Metroid Prime Remastered is available on the Brazilian eShop for R$199.00 and a physical release is expected for February 22nd. Nintendo has not disclosed whether remasters of its successors — Metroid Prime Echoes e Metroid Prime Corruption — are in their plans.
