Metroid Dread came out in October for the Nintendo Switch and managed to score well. Our Chris was also very impressed of the game. MercurySteam was the developer behind this title and so now has plenty of time to start a new project, and we now know the first details of that.
The Spanish developer was also co-responsible for Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS, released in 2017, in addition to Metroid Dread. If you had hopes that MercurySteam would once again work with the well-known Nintendo franchise, you will be disappointed. They are working on a completely new IP.
The new project is currently known as ‘Project Iron’. The game is a dark fantasy action RPG, which will be released on various platforms. It is not yet known what these will be. The tentative budget for this game is approximately $30.7 million.
