Metro TV Grieves Journalist Dies in Accident During Army Chief of Staff Visit in Merauke

Metro TV journalist Roy Dorsono Rahel was one of the victims who died in a car accident during the visit of Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman in Merauke, Papua. Media Group Network, which oversees Metro TV, expressed condolences.

“The entire Media Group Network family expresses their condolences for the passing of Roy Darsono, a Metro TV journalist. May all his deeds of worship and kindness be accepted by Him,” said an official statement via the Metro TV account, Tuesday (12/4/2022) .

The accident incident coincided with the visit of General Dudung at the Battalion Battalion 123/RW Task Force in Sota, Merauke. Two people died in the accident, namely First Lieutenant Cpm I Kadek Adi Suharyana SH and Roy Dorsono.

Kadispenad Brigadier General Tatang Subarna explained that the car the victim was traveling in was outside the main group of General Dudung. Roy was treated at the hospital due to bleeding in the head.

“One of the media crew who became victims of the accident, Roi Dorsono Rahel, a contributor to Metro TV, breathed his last after being treated at the hospital due to bleeding in the head,” said Tatang.

The victims were evacuated to Bunda Pengharapan Hospital for first aid and then referred to Merauke Hospital. General Dudung visited the victim at the hospital. After being assured that the victims were handled properly, General Dudung and his entourage continued a series of working visits to the Pattimura Military Command XVI.

“The TNI AD expresses deep concern and condolences for the death of Brother Roi Dorsono Rahel and hopes that the other injured victims can be treated as well as possible at the hospital,” said Tatang.
