A group of Metro-North train employees rescued a three-year-old boy who was wandering on the train tracks near the Tarrytown station.
The events occurred on Thursday, April 6 around 3:15 pm.
The minor had been reported missing by his mother a few minutes earlier.
The MTA reported that locomotive engineer William Kennedy was operating a southbound Hudson Line train to northbound when he noticed the boy.
The worker sent an emergency message to alert all the trains and the radio station, who cut the electricity to the line.
“I was heading south towards Tarrytown when I noticed something on the tracks, and when I realized it was a child, I immediately called 911,” he said.
Together with other workers they went down and looked for the minor.
Marcus Higgins, another of the workers, jumped onto the track, ran 40 yards and picked up the boy and took him aboard the train.
The child’s mother and sister arrived at the place, who were looking for the minor who, according to what they said, suffers from autism.
All workers received recognition from the MTA for their action.
