It’s official. The president of Rennes metropolis, Nathalie Appéré and the representative of the manufacturer Siemens announced this Wednesday, June 15, the commissioning of line B of the metro in Rennes. The first trains will run from Tuesday, September 20, from 5:15 a.m., with a frequency of passage every 2 to 3 minutes.
After multiple postponements, linked to the health crisis and technical problems, the commissioning is therefore now known. Final hardware adjustments will continue this summer.
100,000 passengers per day expected on this new line
Objective with this new metro line: 100,000 daily passengers. 15 new stations served from the South-West to the North-East of the city. In the fall, 3/4 of Rennes residents will thus be less than 10 minutes from a metro station. This line b will have cost 1 billion 300,000 euros.

Prior to commissioning, festive times will be organised, with free trips offered to travelers to discover the new trains. 15 to 17 trains have already been delivered. More will arrive in the coming weeks.
