Metro, InfoPublic – Anticipating the increase in cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, the Metro City Health Service reminds the public to be vigilant and play an active role in preventing dengue fever in Metro City. This was conveyed by the Head of the Metro Health Office, drg. Erla Andrianti, Mars.
The Head of the Metro Health Office also said that there had been a significant increase in dengue cases in December 2021. The highest dengue cases were in three sub-districts, namely Purwosari, Mulyojati and Margorejo Villages.
“To follow up on this, we have written to every Puskesmas in Metro, to make efforts to prevent DHF through the Health Office letter Number 11103/D-2.04/2021. The Puskesmas must coordinate with the District DBD Pokjanal and the Kelurahan DBD Pokja to invite the community to do prevention by eradicating mosquito nests,” he said, Sunday (16/01/2022).
The head of the Health Office also revealed that the community can play an active role in preventing the transmission of DHF. This prevention includes implementing 4 M Plus, namely draining the bath at least 2 times a week, closing water reservoirs, recycling used goods, and monitoring mosquito larvae.
“If people experience symptoms of fever for a few days, it doesn’t go down and leads to signs of dengue fever. He was immediately taken to the nearest health service center to get help, don’t be late,” he said.
Erla also explained that usually people are late in referring DHF patients to the hospital. And usually already in severe condition, of course this will be very dangerous for the patient.
“Therefore, I remind the public to use Abate powder if needed to kill mosquito larvae and it can be obtained free of charge at the Puskesmas. Fogging can be done at homes of residents who are positive for DHF by showing the results of laboratory tests. Then from the monitoring results, there were quite a lot of larvae and some residents experienced the same symptoms of dengue fever,” he explained.
Drg. Erla Andrianti, MARS also said that the fogging carried out by the community independently could coordinate with the Health Service and Puskesmas officers. This is intended to determine the correct dosage used and the ideal distance for fogging/fogging, so that it is not harmful to the community and does not create resistance/immunity to the fogged mosquitoes.
“When people are used to clean and healthy living behavior, one of them is by maintaining a clean environment, through eradicating mosquito nests. Of course, this is the most appropriate thing to break the chain of transmission of dengue disease,” he concluded. (Sr)
