JAKARTA – Metl bicycle tires are an innovative product made from leak-proof material. The NASA research institute developed this space bicycle tire from a super material, namely nitinol.
The tire frame is no joke. The combination of nickel and titanium is said to be able to withstand heat in outer space perfectly.
Compared to bicycle tires in general, these Metl tires have the advantage of never going flat. Of course, these tires are durable and will last a lifetime.
“The tires were sold through a very sophisticated crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter from a small startup,” said a spokesperson for Metl manufacturer, The Smart Tire Company, quoted from Theverge.com, Wednesday (20/9/2023).
A pair ban Metl is priced at USD 500 or the equivalent of IDR 7.6 million and costs 10 times as much as other brands of tires. The weight of this tire reaches 450 grams with an equivalent size of 700 x 35 centimeters. Installing these tires is claimed to be easy for use on highways and rocky roads.
The Melt variant also consists of an aluminum and carbon frame. Each price varies between USD 1,300-USD 2,300 or Rp. 19.5 million-Rp. 22.5 million.
Even though it has a metal frame construction, the tire provides grip thanks to the integrated tread that is resistant to all extreme weather conditions. The cruise can cover a distance of up to 8,000 miles.
Tire distribution bicycle This campaign will be carried out in June 2024. Currently the campaign has hundreds of supporters and has tripled its target with 28 days remaining.
