The National Meteorological Center has raised the alert in Jeddah, Rabigh and Al-Kamil governorates to “warning” and “advanced alert” for governorates in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region of moderate to heavy rainfall, indicating that the the notice continues until 3pm tomorrow (Monday).
The center confirmed that the advanced alert includes: Holy Capital, Jeddah, Al-Khurma, Al-Mowaih, Turbah, Rania, Adham, Maysan, Taif, Al-Kamil, Rabigh, Khulais, Asfan, Al-Jumum, Bahra , Al-Laith, Al-Shuaiba, explaining that forecasts indicate a continuation of the situation with precipitation, medium to heavy rainfall accompanied by surface wind activity, high waves, hail, torrential rain, almost no visibility.
National Meteorology Center Chief Executive Dr Ayman Salem Ghulam said that forecasts are that heavy rains will fall from tonight (Sunday) on Jeddah, Thuwal, Rabigh, Al-Kamil, the holy capital, Taif, Al – Hada, Al-Shifa, Al-Shuaiba, Al-Laith and the parts surrounding these governorates.
He added: This heavy rainfall extends over the Medina region and its provinces including the coasts and then extends east to the regions of Riyadh, Hail, Qassim, the eastern, northeastern and northern regions including the region of Al-Jawf and the northern border region, while heavy snow will fall in the northern regions of Saudi Arabia and a thick fog will form in the early hours of the morning.
