Météo France raises the red alert for the Atlantic coast, 70 departments on orange vigilance

Météo France has put an end to red vigilance during the heat wave for the departments on the Atlantic coast, in his 6 o’clock bulletin, Tuesday July 19, after a day when the temperature records were largely exceeded. At the same time, forecasters place 70 departments on orange “heat wave” vigilance and 11 on orange “storm” vigilance.

And “the intense heat wave on the Atlantic coast” is “ended”reports Meteo France, the temperatures “will rise again in the more eastern regions”. “The maximum will often be between 37 and 40°C in Normandy, in Hauts-de-France, Ile-de-France, Grand-Est, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in the Rhône valley and in Toulouse region”explains the forecasting institute.

Are concerned by this orange alert to the heat wave: Ain, Aisne, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardèche; the Ardennes, the Ariège, the Aube, the Aveyron, the Calvados, the Cantal, the Charente, the Cher, the Corrèze, the Côte-d’Or, the Dordogne, the Doubs, the Drôme, the Eure, the ‘Eure-et-Loir, Gard, Haute-Garonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Gers, Indre, Indre-et-Loire, Isère, Jura, Loir-et-Cher , Haute-Loire, Loiret, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Marne, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Nièvre, Nord, Oise, Orne, Pas-de-Calais, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Rhône, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, Sarthe, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Paris, Seine-Maritime, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Deux-Sèvres, Seine-Saint-Denis, Somme, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Val-d’oise, Val-de -Marne, Vaucluse, Vienne, Haute-Vienne and the Vosges.

Météo France has also placed eleven departments on orange alert due to the risk of thunderstorms. These are Corrèze, Creuse, Dordogne, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Tarn-et- Garonne and Haute-Vienne. “These storms will locally cause violent gusts of wind and hailstorms”notes Meteo France.
