Meta, the company that owns the WhatsApp messaging application, has introduced the possibility of pinning messages in a chat, to highlight them temporarily. That novelty has already begun to arrive this Tuesday for a first group of users.
“With pinned messages 📌 now everyone can be aware of a chat by keeping important messages at the top,” WhatsApp detailed on its social networks, to explain the benefits of this change.
What this function does is keep a highlighted message within a chat, regardless of whether it has been written by us or another person within the chat.
WhatsApp already allowed chats to be pinned to the main screen, and from today it also offers the option to pin messages within a conversation.
For a certain time
It’s pretty simple: to pin a message, just long-press and then select “Pin” from the pop-up menu. Then you can choose the duration and that’s it.
A message may be set for a certain time, and this option is available to the user. Thus, it can be for 24 hours, a week or a month. Possibly the one fixed indefinitely will arrive later in another update.
Whoever pins it will see how after doing so it appears at the top of the chat, next to the icon of a pin or tack. There we can see the text of the message and even the emojis if it has them. Any multimedia element will also be allowed to be highlighted, such as a video. This way if it is a highlighted message for any reason, whether to remember an address or a message, it will always be at hand. (YO)
