Meta, the VR social platform, is introducing a new feature that allows users to share their “metaverse” experiences with Instagram and Facebook followers through the v108 update of Horizon Worlds. With this update, Meta is also testing some adjustments to the safe zone feature of its service. Previously, users could share content from Horizon Worlds to Reels. Now, with the new story-sharing option, users can post Horizon Worlds’ graphics with real-world photos. Meta claims that the feature is only a limited test for 50% of Horizon Worlds’ users but should roll out more broadly in the coming weeks. Meta is also testing a tweaked version of the safe zone, with greater access to user profiles and other important menus. While Meta aims to enhance interoperability and encourage Instagram users’ adoption of Horizon Worlds, fundamental issues still need to be addressed, as highlighted in past reviews of the social VR space.
