You can’t say that Mark Zuckerberg’s “Meta” is doing very well with its metaverse projects, including virtual reality (VR) platforms. For example, “Horizon Worlds” currently only has around 200,000 active users, although the company had already counted on half a million interested users a long time ago. It is also important that until now only adults or 18-year-old users could register in Horizon Worlds. However, in order to increase the activity of the platform, “Meta” plans to open access to teenagers in the near future.
It became known that already in March, “Meta” could give 13 to 17-year-old teenagers the opportunity to register on the VR platform “Horizon Worlds”. Such a move would increase both the number of users and the overall activity, which seems to be quite sluggish now.
“Meta” Vice President of VR Experience Gabriels Auls stated that it is the youngest users who are “the real digital citizens of the metaverse”. Therefore, the company needs to involve teenagers in the metaverse activities in order to succeed. Meanwhile, another Meta representative, Joe Osborne, explains that teenagers are already actively spending their free time in virtual reality using Meta Quest glasses. That’s why Meta wants to provide them with a great user experience on the Horizon Worlds platform as well, with teen-friendly features and activities.
With this move, “Meta” wants to increase the number of active users of “Horizon Worlds” to half a million in the first half of this year. It is also planned to release a web version of the platform, which will be compatible with mobile devices and desktop computers, by June.
