Threads will be Meta’s answer to Twitter. This new social network should arrive within days, marking a new era in this field. After being revealed, it seems that a first question has arisen. Complaints about the amount of data collected mount, but there is something that many seem to have overlooked. We talk about the competition and what they collect.
There are several proposals that seem to be trying to gain the space that Twitter is missing. More and more users decide to leave Elon Musk’s network and soon it looks like they will have a new alternative, created by Meta, Threads.
This proposal has been the focus of the news in recent days and yesterday it took another decisive step towards becoming a reality accessible to all. The point is that Threads has already started to be evaluated, according to the information that is available on the App Store da Apple.
It was Jack Dorsey himself, one of the creators of Twitter, who came forward to reveal the long list of permissions and data collected by Threads. From what can be seen, there are 14 categories that are covered and that will feed Meta’s systems with user information.
This batch covers areas that seem illogical for a social network and that are already raising questions for users. They question the real need to collect this data, if users can control it.
Even more curious is that the collection of this volume of data does not seem to be exclusive to Threads. In response to Jack Dorsey’s publication, several users on Twitter pointed to the fact that Elon Musk’s now social network has the same information to be collected.
Threads is expected to be presented to the public on July 6th, probably on a limited basis and only in the US. Later, Meta will certainly expand its offer to more markets and to many more users, who will certainly want to leave Twitter to try this novelty.
