Meta’s New Feature in WhatsApp Makes Managing Events Easier – Comments Now Allowed in Group Chats

Meta has introduced a new feature for WhatsApp that makes it easier for users to manage events. Community members can now also post comments in group chats with only prompts from admins.

Meta writes in a blog post that events will soon be visible not only in the chat window of the chat application, but also on the information page of each group. Each event will also have its own thread, which should make it easier for users to find answers, questions or comments about that event.

The callers who have agreed to attend an event will also be notified before that event begins. This feature will first be available for group chats that take place within a Community or WhatsApp community. Over the next few months, the feature will also be available in regular group chats.

Meta is also changing to ‘Announcement Groups’, which are group conversations within the WhatsApp community with announcements from administrators. From now on, members of these groups will be able to respond to messages from administrators.
