Another corona cancellation: Greta Van Fleet has to pass
Last minute artists continue to drop out for Rock Werchter due to corona infections. The American group Greta Van Fleet, who would warm up the audience on the Main Stage for Metallica tonight, will not perform, Rock Werchter reports via Twitter. Turnstile is therefore moving from The Barn to the main stage.
Another shift in the programming, after it was announced earlier in the day that Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul will fill in at Klub C tomorrow, to replace Clairo.

Two substitutions in the schedule today, and big question marks at Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Rock Werchter programmers are having a hard time this year at the last minute, due to corona infections and artists with other health problems.
Yesterday it became clear that Metallica, despite a corona infection in the entourage, will still headline tonight. But Sam Fender has already had to give up because of a throat infection. Charles, winner of The Voice Belgique and the co-brain behind “The wrong place”, Hooverphonic’s Eurovision song, takes his place this afternoon in The Barn.

It will become clear later today whether the Red Hot Chili Peppers will close Rock Werchter. The American group has announced via social media that they have to cancel a concert in Glasgow. Whether that also jeopardizes their headliner show, as the closing event of Rock Werchter 2022, is still unclear.

From Sunday evening to Friday afternoon, but the nostalgia of Sum 41 always scores
Day 2 starts with a program change: due to problems in their tour schedule, Sum 41 will be performing as the opener this afternoon and not on Sunday evening. The Canadian punk rockers are combining their show at Rock Werchter with another gig elsewhere today, as they didn’t want to cancel either show. “We would love to play for you at any time of the day as we are so happy to be on stage again after being at home for so long,” it said.

But that early afternoon can do neither the band nor the audience: nostalgia scores at every hour of the day. In particular, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley (42 years old, but still on stage in a black sleeveless shirt) treats the meadow to a strong energy shot. He whips up the audience with all the tricks of the trade, even large balloons, and with success. For lovers of music from the nineties and nilles it is a pleasure.
Throw in some virtuoso guitar playing, and there is a first “circle pit” in the front regions. Singing along also with the big hits “Still waiting” and “In too deep”. A more than worthy opener of day 2 at Rock Werchter. Because a lot of people and a lot of atmosphere are absolutely no guarantee, at noon on the Main Stage.

And there is the sun in Werchter!
On the first day of the festival, Rock Werchter received a lot of rain. But on the second day, the weather gods change things up completely. Blue sky, sun and some clouds: ideal festival weather. And that is noticeable in the turnout and enthusiasm at the early afternoon. The festival goers are ready to fly in.
