Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – Konami Reveals Innovative Camera Options and Difficulty Balancing Plans

Konami has an interesting approach to the problem of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This depends on the camera view that players choose. In the game you can choose from a modern third-person view à la Metal Gear Solid 5 or a fixed camera view from the original.

Through an interview with Famitsu, Creative Director Yuji Korekado says that the original intention was that players could move between the two scenes without restrictions. Although that idea was eventually shelved.

Korekado clearly explains why the conversion option was removed. The difficulty of the game would change greatly depending on the scene. The ‘new style’ has a wider and more linear look. And it allows you to fire your weapon while moving. That made the difficulty level easier than the development team expected.

As a result, the team increased the level of difficulty in the ‘new style’, but that made the ‘legacy style’ too difficult. That’s why two different difficulty levels were finally chosen depending on the camera position. Which of course benefits the replay.

According to Konami, the Legacy Style matches the difficulty of the original game well. For the new style, the team has determined the balance and difficulty itself.

We are already curious. I hope Konami will announce the release date soon.
