Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima rarely hides his influences: his games are full of references and nod to the media that inspire him. If you’re interested in learning more about the inspiration behind some of the industry’s most iconic games, you might be interested in Konami’s ex-man novel, which will be translated into English this year.
Originally published in Japan in 2019, The creative gene includes Kojima’s thoughts on some of his favorite media. There’s also an interview with singer-songwriter Gen Hoshino, who contributed some of the music to Death Stranding. Here is the official text, shared by publisher Viz with Polygon:
