A remake of the third installment of Metal Gear Solid has been rumored for a really long time, but an official announcement from Konami still hasn’t come. Now, two insiders agree that the show is not far off.
Jesus Corden from Windows Central and founder of XboxEra Nick ‘Shpeshal_Nick’ Baker agree that Konami is preparing a big announcement in collaboration with Sony. According to them, the reveal of Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will be part of the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, which should take place in the coming weeks; end of May or beginning of June.
According to both insiders, Sony has struck a deal with Konami that includes exclusivity for Silent Hill 2 Remake, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and the new Castlevania. The first game was already announced for PS5 and PC only. However, Corden is currently unsure whether the MGS 3 remake and Castlevania have the same exclusivity. The game has full exclusivity, i.e. release only on PlayStation 5.
Earlier indications were that Studio Virtuos could be in charge of the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. On LinkedIn, their former employee stated that from October 2018 to June 2019, as a lead programmer, he participated in an unannounced remake of an action-adventure game classified in the AAA category. VGC magazine also previously wrote about the Virtuos studio in connection with MGS 3.
