[The Epoch Times, October 11, 2023](SWNS report/Compiled by Epoch Times reporter Fanxing) A metal detection expert recovered a lost necklace for a woman. The necklace contained her late mother’s engagement and wedding rings.
On August 20, 24-year-old Tessa Le Gallez was very sad when her necklace broke while swimming at Les Amarreurs Beach in Guernsey.
Hanging from the chain were her late mother’s engagement and wedding rings, which made her feel “close” to her late mother, Ms. Legares said.
She called local metal detector expert Matthew Kneebone, 50, to ask if he could help her recover her family heirloom.
“My mom passed away in April and she wanted me to wear her ring,” said Ms. Legares, an office manager.
“Because when it’s cold, sometimes the fingers shrink and the ring can get lost, so I hang it on a sturdy necklace.”
She said she went swimming when her dog jumped on top of her and got its paw caught on the chain. Because the dog was too heavy, the necklace couldn’t bear it and broke.
“I searched for a long time but couldn’t find it. I was scared and worried that I would never get those rings back again,” she said. “They are very precious to me because they make me feel close to my mother. .”
“Then I called Matthew for help.”
Kneebone, a metal detecting expert, told her the rings should be found when the tide comes in again.
Two weeks later, on September 1, Ms. Kneebone and Ms. Legares returned to the beach.
Within 10 minutes, Kneebone found the chain, and half an hour later, all the heirlooms were found.
“I’m over the moon. It’s great. These rings are very important and commemorative to me,” Ms Legares said.
“I can never express my gratitude to him enough. He is the most selfless person I have ever met in my life, and people like him make the world a better place.”
Kneebone, who has been metal detecting since he was 14, said: “Tessa was so grateful and so excited. She ran up to me and gave me a big hug.”
“It feels really good when you can find something that’s been lost for someone else.”
