Social media giant Meta said on Wednesday that it has begun rolling out generative artificial intelligence tools that can generate content such as image backgrounds and text variations to all advertisers.
The company began testing these tools in May, giving access to a select group of advertisers in a “testing field.” The tools will be available in Meta Ads Manager and will be rolled out next year.
The rollout marks Facebook and Instagram’s first move to bundle generative AI technology into their products to mine vast stores of historical data to generate new content such as prose, art and software code.
Last week, the company said businesses will soon be able to use AI for business messaging on Messenger and WhatsApp to communicate with customers.
Meta’s suite of AI products includes its language model “Llama 2” and a chatbot called Meta AI that can generate photo-realistic text responses and images.
