Android Central reports that support for the core Microsoft Office suite has arrived for the original Oculus Quest, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and the latest model, Meta Quest 3, and users can now download Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint from the Meta Quest store for free.
The company revealed for the first time that it would launch Microsoft 365 application experiences for its headphones during the Connect 2022 event, and also promised users access to Outlook, Teams, and the Windows experience as part of its partnership with Microsoft, so that users can use the basic Office suite applications on their devices.
Users will need to have their own Microsoft account and sign in. The app files are very small because they run in the cloud, so they are quick to download and can run side by side for the multiple tasks available.
According to The Verge, the apps aren’t fully optimized for VR, so users may have to deal with small icons and other elements that don’t work well in the environment. Additionally, the Quest’s on-screen keyboard isn’t easy to type on, so Users may have to tether Bluetooth accessories if they need to get some serious work done.
