Meta lowers the price of its Quest Pro and Quest 2 virtual reality headsets
Meta, which is struggling to increase its investment in the Metaverse universe, will cut the price of its Quest virtual reality headset by 33% and that of another model by 14%.
The Quest Pro helmet for professionals will be sold for $1,000 instead of $1,500, as of March 5 in the United States and Canada, and March 15 in the various countries where this tool is available.
As for the Quest 2 helmet, which is more dedicated to games, it will be offered at a price of $ 430 instead of $ 500, as of March 5, in about twenty countries.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has invested tens of billions to design these helmets and their platforms. And Mark Zuckerberg is betting on the prosperity of the parallel world of Metaverse, which can be accessed through accessories for augmented and virtual reality. And he changed the company’s name from “Facebook” to “Meta” in October 2021.
However, the Reality Labs division, one of the company’s subsidiaries, lost $13.7 billion in 2022, raising investor doubts about the new strategy.
Meta confirmed in its blog that it “continues its commitment to establishing a thriving virtual reality market targeting developers, companies and individuals.” She added that her goal “has always been to create affordable devices so that they are available to as many people as possible so that they can benefit from all that virtual reality has to offer.”
