In February of this year, Meta started launching a similar feature to Telegram’s called Feeds on its Instagram platform. In September, this also appeared in “WhatsApp”. It is a one-way communication tool that allows content creators, opinion leaders or any other interested party to gather followers and share information, news. This feature has now also arrived on Facebook and Messenger.
The new news channels feature will allow content creators, public figures, Facebook page administrators to send news, including photos, videos, to their followers or community in one place. This still exists as a one-way communication tool, meaning that only the channel administrator can post. Meanwhile, followers have the opportunity to react to news, participate in polls. Meta explains that Facebook Page admins can launch a channel directly from their Page, and Facebook will send those followers a one-time notification to join the channel.
A user can become a member of an unlimited number of channels, they will be found in the “Channels” section of “Messenger”. Members will receive a notification whenever a channel administrator sends a notification. However, if it starts to become annoying or disturbing, you can mark in the settings that you do not want to receive notifications from the channel in question.
