In Horizon Worlds (on Oculus goggles), users can meet other owners in a virtual metaverse and engage in various social and entertainment interactions. Recently, there was a situation in which a group of several guests of the virtual world of Meta performed – supposedly as a joke – a virtual gang rape on one of the players.
According to her account, a moment after she joined Horizon Worlds, four male avatars began to molest her – first verbally and then physically, which they documented with photos.
Meta she reacted to this incident immediately – a new feature was announced: Personal Boundary.
This feature will be turned on by default. It works by preventing players from approaching other players within a distance of one meter.
The meta started rolling out this tool over the weekend, and it will be rolling out to all Horizon Worlds players in the coming days.
The company notes that this is a preliminary version of the Personal Boundary. Ultimately, this function will allow you to modify the field of action of this border to allow other players to approach a shorter distance or increase the allowable distance.
The introduction of this solution will limit some social functions in Horizon Worlds, such as the virtual high-five or the turtle.
