Meta Delay Debut End-to-End Encryption on Instagram and Messenger until 2023 : Okezone techno

COMPANY Facebook parent, Instagram and WhatsApp, Meta We don’t currently plan to roll out end-to-end encryption (E2EE) by default on Messenger and Instagram until 2023.

As part of its plans to create a unified messaging system across all its platforms, the company has merged Messenger and Instagram chats last year.

And while messages sent via Messenger and Instagram can be E2EE, that option isn’t enabled by default, and likely won’t be active until 2023.

In a post in The Telegraph, Antigone Davis, Meta’s Head of Safety, attributed the delay to user safety concerns.

Since E2EE means that only the sender and recipient will see their conversations, Davis says Meta wants to ensure that this doesn’t interfere with the platform’s ability to help stop criminal activity.

“Once E2EE is available by default, we note that enterprises will use a combination of unencrypted data across our applications, account information, and reports from users to help keep them safe, while aiding public safety efforts,” he said. Tuesday (11/23/2021).
