Sharjah24 – AFP: On Tuesday, US tech giant Meta acknowledged a widespread outage affecting its WhatsApp messaging service and said it was working to restore the app “as quickly as possible”.
According to a representative of Meta who said: “We are aware that some users have problems sending messages and we are trying to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible”.
On Tuesday morning, the Downdetector tracking website and user complaints on social media both indicated problems with the hugely popular service.
According to Downdetector, thousands of WhatsApp users have reported issues since 07:17 GMT, with a sharp increase shown in the dedicated 24-hour chart.
Social media users have reported that they are unable to message or connect to the app.
WhatsApp’s parent company Meta experienced an unprecedented significant outage in 2017.
