San Francisco, Dusseldorf Mark Zuckerberg is known for his usually stiff facial expressions and mostly emotionless public appearances. But when he was recently contacted by analysts about his plans for the metaverse, he got excited. “We are creating history here,” says Zuckerberg. “I think in decades people will look back on the importance of the work being done here.”
The Facebook founder has created a group of superlatives. His company Meta has more than 3.7 billion customers around the world. Meta then reaches around 80% of all people in the world with internet access, with the exception of China, where Meta products are blocked.
Eight out of ten meta customers use one of the products such as Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp at least once a day. Yet Zuckerberg is betting everything on a new project: the Metaverse.
