“Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Compares Meta Quest 3 to Apple Vision Pro, Highlights Advantages”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently compared Meta Quest 3 to Apple Vision Pro in an Instagram video, highlighting the advantages of Meta’s headset over Apple’s. Zuckerberg believes that the Quest 3 is better suited for most mixed reality applications and provided several reasons to support his claim.

Firstly, the Quest 3 is significantly more affordable than the Vision Pro, being priced at $500, which is 7 times less expensive. Despite the lower price, the Quest 3 offers high-quality passthrough with big screens, similar to the Vision Pro. Additionally, the Quest 3 is more comfortable, weighing 120 grams less than the Vision Pro and does not have any wires that hinder movement.

Moreover, the Quest 3 boasts a wider field of view and a brighter screen compared to the Vision Pro. While the Vision Pro experiences motion blur when moving around, the Quest 3 provides a crisper experience. The Quest 3 also offers precision controllers and accurate hand tracking, making it more immersive for users. Furthermore, the Quest 3 has a deeper content library, allowing users to watch YouTube or play Xbox.

Zuckerberg expressed surprise at the tradeoffs Apple made to achieve a higher resolution screen on the Vision Pro, sacrificing comfort and ergonomics. He emphasized that Apple is not always the leader in new product categories and hopes that Meta’s devices will ultimately come out on top. He believes that Meta represents the open model in this next generation of computing, just as Microsoft’s open model prevailed during the PC era.

The Meta Quest 3 was launched in October and features two 2K LCD panels, while the Vision Pro boasts 4K microLED displays. The Quest 3 weighs 515 grams, slightly lighter than the Vision Pro’s 600 to 650 grams. It also does not require a separate battery pack and utilizes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset with 8GB RAM. The Quest 3 comes equipped with Touch Plus controllers.

Meta has released several headsets, including the Oculus Quest, Oculus Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro. Apple also plans to continue producing headsets, with rumors suggesting that the next-generation version will be more affordable. Apple CEO Tim Cook referred to the Vision Pro as “tomorrow’s technology today” when explaining its price.

In conclusion, Mark Zuckerberg’s comparison of the Meta Quest 3 to the Apple Vision Pro highlights the advantages of Meta’s headset. With its lower price, comfort, wider field of view, and immersive content library, the Quest 3 presents a compelling option for mixed reality users. Zuckerberg believes that Meta’s open model will prevail in this next generation of computing, challenging Apple’s closed model.
