Meta bundles settings from Facebook, Messenger and Instagram

21 January 2023 –
In the future, the three meta-platforms Facebook, Messenger and Instagram will be managed together in the so-called Account Center. Settings such as personal information, passwords or advertisements are bundled in one place.

Meta bundles the administration of the in-house platforms Facebook, Messenger and Instagram, as the company per blog post communicates. As part of this development, settings for personal information, passwords, advertisements or security will all be displayed together in the so-called Account Center. This is intended to make it easier for users to keep track of the various meta platforms and the associated accounts.

If desired, the accounts from Facebook, Messenger and Instagram can be combined in the Account Center, which means that the same settings can be made for all of them. Access to the Account Center can be found via the Settings menu item on all three platforms. In addition to general settings such as personal information, payment methods and passwords, Meta would also like to pay particular attention to the settings for the advertisements: For example, in the menu item Activity information from advertising partners, Meta offers an overview of the data sent by other websites and apps, which is necessary for the display of advertisements be used. Individual control over the advertisements played should also increase. Because of this, Meta is exploring new ways to give users the option to see more ads for things they care about. A complete list of all settings to be made in the Account Center can be found here.

The changes announced by Meta are effective immediately and will be rolled out to Facebook, Messenger and Instagram users on an ongoing basis. In the future, the Account Center will also bundle other settings from the three platforms. (rf)
