The owner of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, Meta started bringing its artificial intelligence (AI) package to Brazil, called Meta AI, on the 9th to delete the update.
According to the conglomerate, it would be beneficial for the machine to introduce AI service into the group’s communication platforms, but the decision is already receiving objections for an alleged “aggregation”.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg hopes that this competitive advantage will lead Meta AI to the position of the most used chatbot in the world, ahead of ChatGPT.

Meta AI is available on WhatsApp
The new Meta tool started appearing more frequently on WhatsApp. Recipients can find it in the search bar at the top of the application interface and in a blue and pink ring in the lower right corner of the screen.
It is also possible to call Meta AI in conversations with third parties and in groups on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. To do this, the person must mention it, with the command @Meta AI, and add the instructions afterwards.
How does Meta AI work?
Meta AI is a chatbot like ChatGPT. It answers questions and follows instructions from a chat interface.
The tool suggests some typical requests and questions to help users get started. One of the examples is “write an invitation to a party with a gastronomic theme”, which will receive a broad invitation as a response, with indications of what information the person should fill in.
Meta AI runs on the Llama 3.1 405b AI engine, introduced by Meta in July. The model would have similar capabilities to the latest versions of ChatGPT, according to the social media conglomerate.
It is also possible to use the resource to search for different topics, from the bar at the top of the screen.
Users, however, complain about problems in finding old conversations, because they started getting AI guesses in response.
How to remove Meta AI
Meta does not provide an option to turn off Meta AI on WhatsApp. Those who haven’t received the update can turn off the app’s automatic updates in the Play Store or the App Store – however, using them is not recommended as it leaves the program more susceptible to security breaches.
WhatsApp users can also hide or delete the conversation with Meta AI by tapping on the conversation icon on the WhatsApp home screen. Then, they must click either on the trash (to delete) or on the file (to archive) in the bar above.
The AI, however, is still present in the search bar and the colored button in the lower right corner of the screen.
Create images with the ‘Imagine’ command
In addition to answering questions, with simple and sometimes general answers, Meta AI is also able to create images.
To do this, the user must use the /Imagine command, followed by the description of the desired image.
People also have the command /ai-options (AI options) to see other shortcuts available in the device.
Data is not encrypted
Meta warns that conversations with Meta AI are not end-to-end encrypted. The conglomerate moderators chat with the platform and can use the messages sent to the AI to train other models.
The choice, according to the company, is to enable human and automated methods of interaction between humans and artificial intelligence. Commands to the machine can also be used to train it in the future.
AI can also access the user’s location to provide more accurate answers.
Meta AI is on Facebook and Instagram
Meta AI is also starting to be available in Instagram and Facebook message tabs, as well as Messenger.
In one of these sections, the user must click on the new messages icon in the upper right corner and then on the “create AI chat” option. Then, in “Meta AI”. How to prevent Meta from using your data

Another requirement from the ANPD was that people without an account on Meta can also delete, because pictures and texts that are on the social network can refer to friends and family.
