Super Rumble is developed by Meta✴-owned studio Ouro Interactive and exists within the Horizon Worlds metaverse platform. The platform has previously been criticized for being too primitive graphics, but in the new project the visual side has undergone some positive changes. “We’ve really raised the bar for what can be built in Horizon in terms of visual complexity, interactivity and fun gameplay.”commented Vishal Shah, Head of the Metaverse at Meta✴.
The game is a kind of clone of Fortnite – even if not the best, but quite exciting. The player finds himself in a simple arena with seven types of weapons scattered around. The round lasts several minutes, and after death the player is reborn after a few seconds – everyone is given complete freedom of action until the siren sounds. As the game progresses, the user levels up, thereby unlocking new skills and equipment. In addition, there are six types of superpowers. Super Rumble is extremely simple – you can quickly get used to it and find the optimal cover for yourself.
Some moments remind you that the game does not exist as an independent unit, but as part of the metaverse platform. The playable character is a user-owned, legless Meta✴ 3D avatar, and it’s fun to play as your own. While in the arena, the player hears the conversations of other participants, which exacerbates the effect of presence. When the round ends, it resumes a minute later with the same participants, which means you can play with your friends all day.
Super Rumble has already become quite popular – there are about a thousand people constantly attending it, and this is not so bad. Now Meta✴ will have to maintain the hit status of the game. It will need to be developed, new levels, weapons and bonuses will be added to make it interesting for players to return. Although, as the authors of the review say, Super Rumble cannot yet be called confirmation that people will want to spend days in the metaverse all day long.
