“Met Gala 2021: Celebrities Pay Tribute to Karl Lagerfeld at Exhibition Opening”

A rendezvous of the stars in New York: numerous celebrities from the world of fashion, music and sport gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening (May 1) for the annual Met Gala. This time they all came to the “Party of the Year” to pay tribute to fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld posthumously. But not only him.

For about five hours, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman and Co. walked over a beige, red and blue carpet that had been laid out over the front steps of the famous museum on Central Park in Manhattan.

The dress code at the opening of the Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty exhibition included either fashion designed by Lagerfeld or outfits reminiscent of him or his cat Choupette.

“I loved Karl so much and it’s wonderful to see that so many people have come to pay him the honor he deserves,” said hostess of the benefit gala, Anna Wintour, who was the first to honor the steps up.

Pregnant Rihanna – in a sweeping white gown with a train – and her partner, rapper ASAP Rocky, were the last guests to arrive about five hours later.

But the guest list also had a lot in between: Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Roger Federer, Margot Robbie, Penélope Cruz, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, Kristen Stewart, Cardi B, Glenn Close, Sofia Coppola, Billie Eilish, Anne Hathaway, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham. Karl Lagerfeld’s cat is also said to have been invited to the event. However, she preferred to stay comfortably at home, according to an Instagram post.
