Schalke fans can get rid of a potential return from Mesut Özil to his home club. “I don’t want to steal the show from Sead Kolasinac. No, but to be honest I will always have sympathy for Schalke and I wish them all the best from the bottom of my heart. But it’s not really an option for me at the moment …”, explained the 2014 world champion when asked whether he could help Schalke for the rest of the season.
Özil does not regret his time in the DFB team
The playmaker also commented on his time in the national team and looks back positively: “Of course I have many fantastic memories of my time in the national team. We became world champions in Brazil and were part of a great era in German football. I would never say that I regretted playing for Germany. Much has been said about the way it ended, but I don’t regret the decision. Life goes on and I am grateful that I recently received a lovely personal letter from DFB President Fritz Keller, who takes up all the topics from back then.
Overall, the midfielder took a lot of time and also talked about Arsene Wenger, Sergio Ramos and even named the best Arsenal team of his time with the Gunners.
