It is known that Lionel Messi, 34, of FC Barcelona’s’Superstar’ of Spanish professional football, has received a salary of about 750 billion won for four years from the club.

Spanish media El Mundo revealed the details of the contract between Messi and Barcelona club on the 30th (local time). This is the contract at the time of renewing the contract in November 2017.

According to the media, Messi will receive about 550 million euros (about 750 billion won) for four seasons until June this year when the contract ends.

The amount received per season is 138 million euros (approximately 187 billion won), a signing bonus of 115 million euros (approximately 156 billion won) and a loyalty bonus of 77.9 million euros (approx. KRW billion) was also added.

With five months left until the end of the contract, Messi has received more than 6934 billion won.

“The huge deal ruined Barcelona,” El Mundo explained, explaining that Messi had the largest contract in sports history.

After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) began, Barcelona is complaining of serious financial difficulties.

Recently, according to local media such as Marca, Spain, the total debt of Barcelona is 1,173 million euros (about 1.59 trillion won).

Among them, players’ wages account for more than three-quarters of the club’s budget, and Messi’s’special contract’ is also playing a big part in the financial deterioration.

Messi, who has been playing as Barcelona’One Club Man’ since his youth team, announced his intention to break up by submitting a request for transfer to the club in August last year, but struggled over the issue of buyout of 700 million euros (about 950 billion won). Eventually it remained on the team.

After the contract ends on June 30 this year, Messi can freely find a new nest and leave without a transfer fee as well as a buyout that caught last year.
