Inter Miami is currently on a world tour. Of course, figurehead Lionel Messi (36) should not be missing. Especially since at the first stop it became clear again how infatuated the football fans are with the Argentine.
On Sunday evening (local time) Inter played against the national team of El Salvador in San Salvador. Although it was only a friendly match, the city was almost in a state of emergency beforehand.
The home fans finally flocked to the visitors’ team hotel to catch a glimpse of Lionel Messi. The supporters then paid homage to their idol with chants when he arrived by bus.
To ensure that “Messimania” does not turn into hysteria, the local authorities have drawn up a strict security protocol. This should protect both Messi and his fans from a possible escalation.

The detour to the desert state can rightly be considered the highlight of the trip. The MLS team will meet the Saudi Arabian first division team al-Nassr, for whom a certain Cristiano Ronaldo (38) – Messi’s long-term rival – has been playing since January 1, 2023.
