Lionel Messi was second, behind the Polish Robert Lewandoswski, in the traditional classification of the 100 best footballers of 2020 that is carried out annually by a London newspaper released today and in which seven other Argentines appear.
The Guardian newspaper elaborates each year the classification of the 100 best footballers and in each case justifies the place where it was located, this year being the best Lewandoswski, from German Bayern Munich, also chosen by FIFA as the best in the world in 2020 .
Messi was second in the list and the argument to be placed there was: “2020 was a bad year for Messi. You cannot escape the truth, in 2020 Messi was not really that good and with good reason he is below Lewandowski and even being second might be too high, but its inclusion in part of habit. It’s hard to escape sadness, frustration and fear that the end is near. “
Third place went to Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), followed by Belgian Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Norwegian Erling Haaland (Borusia Dortmund), Frenchman Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Egyptian Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) , the Brazilian Neymar (PSG) and the Dutch Virgil Van Dik (Liverpool).
As for the other Argentines, Alejandro Gómez (Atalanta) appears 32nd. Ángel Di María (PSG) 38th, Paulo Dybala (Juventus) 39th, Lautaro Martínez (Inter) 44th, Lucas Ocampos (Sevilla) 53rd, Sergio Agüero (Manchester City) 65th and Ever Banega (Sevilla-Al Shabab) 93rd.
