Midfielder the Argentine national team Alexis MacAllister he said none of the Team Tango players objected Lionel Messi.
Mac Allister made an example of getting involved with Messi. The Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has admitted defending Messi when he first joined the Argentina national team in 2019.
At the time, Mac Allister admitted that a number of Argentine players derided him as “Ginger” due to his hair color during training. The 23-year-old midfielder was later defended by Messi.
“I remember everyone calling me ‘Ginger’ and I didn’t like it. So Messi told all the players to stop calling me ‘Ginger’,” Mac Allister told Sky Sports.
Mac Allister says once Messi spoke, none of the Argentine players stood up to him.
“After that, none of the Argentine players called me ‘Ginger’ anymore. No one dared to go against Messi, everyone obeyed,” Mac Allister said.
Mac Allister also revealed the first moment he met Messi. The former Argentinos Junior player admitted he was very nervous when he shook La Pulga’s hand.
“My face was red, very red. I didn’t even dare say hello, I was so nervous about meeting one of the best players in the world,” said Mac Allister.
“It’s something I will never forget. The situation was so magical when my father [Carlos] I played with Diego Maradona and was able to train with Messi. I’m very proud,” Mac Allister continued.
Mac Allister was a big part of Argentina’s success in winning the 2022 World Cup. Mac Allister scored one goal and one assist in six 2022 World Cup appearances.
