News Lionel Messi going to Major League Soccer (MLS) getting stronger. La Pulga is reportedly closing in Inter-Miami.
Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30, 2023. The Argentine star has not decided his future so far.
Since late last October, there have been reports that Inter Miami are targeting Messi. The US club is also poised to make the 35-year-old player the highest paid in MLS.
A day after Messi helped Argentina beat Saudi Arabia in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, Times issued a report. The media say that Inter Miami and Messi are one step away from reaching an agreement.
It was also claimed that Messi would make a deal with Inter Miami after the World Cup. The David Beckham-owned club and other business partners are hoping Messi will arrive after the 2022/2023 season in Europe.
Inter Miami is considering the possibility of signing two of Messi’s former colleagues, namely Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez. Their presence should sweeten the former Barcelona’s game in America.
Since December 2020, Messi has admitted that he wants to play in MLS one day. He said it when his contract with Barcelona was about to expire.
“I’ve always said that I want to experience the US championship. But it’s not for now, yes,” Messi told La Sexta.
