Lionel Messi reported to have agreed a deal with Paris St. Germain. Even so, Barcelona still selling Messi shirts in its official stores.
The Argentine football superstar accepted PSG’s offer in the form of a two-year contract with an option for a year extension. Messi will also be paid 35 million euros per year (about Rp 590 billion).
Currently the 34-year-old footballer has arrived in Paris. Messi’s father and agent, Jorge, confirmed that his son would sign a contract with PSG after undergoing medical tests today (10/8/2021).
Barcelona also seems to have started a new era without Lionel Messi. Barca have removed the posters of the six-time world’s best player from the stadium.
However, Barcelona’s official shop at Camp Nou was found to still be selling Messi shirts. There is still Messi’s name on Barca’s new jerseys for the 2021/2022 season, a shirt he will never wear.
In addition, fans can still order a Barcelona shirt with Messi’s name on the club’s official website.
Messi has finally left Barcelona after more than two decades. That’s because Barca are experiencing a financial crisis that makes them fail to comply with LaLiga’s salary limit policy.
As a consequence, Barca were unable to register their new player, meaning Messi, after his initial contract expired. Even though Messi agreed to stay and was willing to cut his salary by 50 percent to ease Barca’s financial burden.
During his career at Barcelona, Lionel Messi has become an icon as well as the greatest player in the club’s history. Messi has contributed 34 trophies with the contribution of 672 goals and 305 assists in more than 700 appearances.
