Fort Lauderdale. The Inter Miami coach, Gerardo Martino, kept in doubt this Tuesday the presence of Lionel Messi in the clash against the Mexican Monterrey for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
The Argentine star participated with the group in training on Tuesday and Martino did not rule out that he is ready to face Rayados on Wednesday in front of his home crowd at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
“Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will define, today I don’t know. Tomorrow we will define it, there are still 24 hours left,” Martino limited himself to saying at the press conference prior to the crash.
“We have to think that we are only at the beginning of April and this is just beginning, we cannot put the condition of our footballers at risk,” said the Tata.
Messi, 36, has been out since March 13 due to a hamstring injury that kept him out of the next three rounds of the North American League (MLS) and two friendlies for the Argentine national team.
During the last few weeks, the striker carried out specific recovery work with the aim of being ready for the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup, a tournament that offers the winner a ticket to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
