There is one interesting moment when Argentina face Ecuador in the qualifying match 2022 World Cup. Lionel Messi was approached by the opposing team’s supporters who asked him to take a selfie!
CONMEBOL zone 2022 World Cup qualification bring together Ecuador vs Argentina. The match took place at the Estdio Monumental Banco Pichincha, Guayaquil, Wednesday (30/3/2022).
Messi appeared as a starter and captain of Argentina. The flea played the full 90 minutes, but failed to score in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Argentina took the lead through Julian Alvarez’s goal in the first half. Ecuador striker, Enner Valencia, saved his team from defeat with his goal just before the final whistle.
After the match, Lionel Messi accosted by an Ecuadorian fan running from the stands onto the pitch. The supporter then immediately put his arm around Messi’s neck and pulled his body to take a selfie together.
Messi looked uncomfortable with the fans’ treatment. Because of the behavior of these supporters, La Pulga also showed a sullen face in their selfie photos. Security officers then immediately separated Messi from the Ecuadorian fan.
The Ecuadorian fan who asked for a selfie with Messi was identified as Jossue Garzon. He uploaded a moment of himself breaking through the field and taking selfies with Messi on Instagram.
Photos and videos uploaded by Garzon show a contrasting face of him smiling widely with a frowning Messi. Garzon did not forget to thank his idol player.
“You only live once and one is enough for me because I met the greatest player of all time. Thank you Leo Messi for all the happy moments you gave throughout the year through your beautiful football. I love you and this sport,” Garzon wrote on Twitter. his Instagram account, Thursday (31/3).
The video of Garzon’s action went viral on social media. Some praised the Colombian man’s courage, but not a few criticized his attitude which was considered disrespectful to Lionel Messi.
