Messi equals Maradona

Doha, 26 Nov (EFE).- Leo Messi started the match against Mexico and took the number of games played for the Argentine team in the history of the World Cup to twenty-one, the same as Diego Armando Maradona, the only one who had the most solo performances to date.

Messi arrived in Qatar with 19 World Cup appearances. He played three matches in Germany 2006, five in South Africa 2010, seven in Brazil 2014 and four in Russia 2018. Along with the match against Saudi Arabia and Eastern Mexico in Qatar 2022. The Paris Saint Germain striker will already surpass Maradona with the clash which will complete the group stage of Argentina against Poland.

Maradona has played in four World Cups in his career, one less than his compatriot. He played five games in Spain in 1982, seven in Mexico in 1986, where he became champion, as many in Italy in 1990, where he reached the final, and two in the United States in 1994.
