Messi and Mbappe save PSG from misstep against Leipzig

Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have Paris Saint Germain saved from losing points in the Champions League. The French top club had their hands full RB Leipzig, but went on to win 3-2.

PSG quickly took the lead at home. Lionel Messi floored André Silva on the edge of his own penalty area, but the Parisians were allowed to continue. Mbappé was able to get away and hit in the short corner. However, RB Leipzig was by no means discouraged and quickly returned via Silva, who tapped in a cross from Angeliño at the far post. Christopher Nkunku was even close to a second German goal on the stroke of half-time, but shot just wide.

In the second half, PSG still got the lid on the nose. Nordi Mukiele took a beautiful cross from Angeliño in one go: 1-2. The French star formation had a hard time again, but with substitute Georginio Wijnaldum it was released in the final phase with the fright. Messi tied the score again and then the Argentine star was allowed to take a penalty after a foul on Mbappe. He cashed in on that opportunity with a panenka.

That was it in the Parc des Princes, because Mbappé shot a penalty in injury time. PSG nevertheless leads in group A with seven points. Manchester City (six points) and Club Brugge (four) follow. Leipzig is still at zero and is as good as out.
