Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are no longer among the 100 most valuable players in the world

Periodically, the CIES Soccer Observatory produces a report in which it indicates which are the most valuable players in the world. Although the ranking usually brings controversy, in this case, the first place seems to have no discussion. However, it was striking that the two great players of the century, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, are not among the top 100 places.

The developed ranking reaches that position, which is occupied by the Serbian Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, valued at 50.3 million euros. That means that the Argentine and Portuguese stars, according to this study, cost less than that figure.

The evaluation criteria usually have to do with statistics, mainly goals and assists, the titles won, but also, as a very important item, the age of the players. It is this criterion that leaves the 30 of Paris Saint-Germain and the 7 of Manchester United out of the main places. In fact, the oldest player in the top 100 is Kevin De Bruyne, who is only 30 years old, four years younger than Messi.

The ranking is indisputably led by Kylian Mbappé, whose price is 205 million euros, followed by the Brazilian Vinicius Jr., who was valued at 185.3 million euros. The podium is completed by Erling Haaland, recently transferred to Manchester City with a value of 152.6 million.

Regarding the Argentines, the first to appear in the ranking is Lautaro Martínez, in 11th place, with a value of 106.7 million euros. He is followed by Cristian “Cuti” Romero, just in 51st place, valued at 68.3 million. There are only two other soccer players from our country among the 100 most valuable: Rodrigo De Paul, placed 64th with a valuation of 61.1 million euros and Julián Álvarez, 93rd with 51.5 million.
