In an interview after signing an agreement of understanding between Comce and the City of Pharr, Texas, the executive president of the private sector organization supported President Sheinbaum Pardo that it is a strategy that allows for more investment security and less corruption. and the opportunity for there to be a much more structured judicial system.

He considered that this positioning can trigger investment and foreign trade. “When there is certainty and the president of the country says so, obviously there is a commitment and that commitment when presented directly and when talking with the businessmen gives a feeling of greater security,” he said.

Regarding the statements of the Republican candidate Donald Trump to impose 200 percent tariffs on cars manufactured in Mexico, in the event that he wins the presidency of the United States next November, Contreras Pérez mentioned that “Trump is a very person who talks a lot and At the moment when it is necessary to make decisions, you do not shoot yourself in the foot”, because there are interests that do not allow it.

“If you want to put a 200 percent tariff on cars that are produced in Mexico, then I don’t know if it will be the differentiation between Chinese cars and the American cars that are being produced,” he said. “They are political positions,” he added.

He recalled that the business sector is already reviewing the issues that will be reviewed in the T-MEC, such as the labor part, just as the United States also has its own.

He recalled that the economies of both countries are closely integrated economically, financially and industrially, since only 40 percent of the automotive industry supplies in the region come from Mexico, because it is of quality.
