Even though it is still free or free of charge, those who wish to cross must use electronic money or e-Money.
“Today Pekanbaru Dumai has started operation, free for the next two. Even though it’s not paid yet, it’s still using the card. Five e-money can be used, such as (Mandiri), Tapcash (BNI), Brizzi (BRI), Flazz (BCA), and e-money for Bank Riau Kepri, ”said the governor through an official statement received by Riaupos.co Saturday morning.
Passing through each Pekanbaru-Dumai toll gate, the public must prepare electronic money, which is currently increasingly being used as a safe, practical and efficient means of payment. The five electronic money, continued the governor, were issued by banks.
The governor explained, the next two weeks will be part of educating the public so that they can use the toll road safely and smoothly. This toll road is used with a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
“We hope that the people will use this asset of our pride in an orderly manner, because this is the first toll road for the Riau community,” the governor ordered.
The presence of the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road is expected to be able to facilitate connectivity between Pekanbaru and other cities in Riau with the Dumai Industrial Estate and Port, especially considering that Dumai Port is the main port for export-import activities to neighboring countries and other countries and access to / from neighboring countries. It is hoped that the presence of this toll road will also encourage the flow of tourists to coastal areas, such as Rupat Island.
From the investment side, smoother and faster connectivity will further encourage investor interest in Riau, which currently ranks 5th nationally as an investment destination.
The 131.5 kilometer toll road is divided into six sections. Starting from section 1 is Pekanbaru-Minas along 9.5 km, section 2 Minas m-South Kandis along 24.1 km, section 3 Kandis Selatan-Kandis Utara along 16.9 km, then section 4 Kandis Utara-Duri Selatan along 26, 25 km, and section 6 JC Duri-Dumai along 25.44 km.
In addition, the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road also has five interchanges and five elephant tunnels, because this toll road crosses the Balai Raja Wildlife Reserve and Siak Small. The elephant tunnel was built in Section 4 of North Kandis-Duri, which is a corridor crossing for Sumatran elephants with a population of hundreds.
