Mescyt summons university rectors to discuss the reopening of teaching

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Franklin García Fermín, said on Tuesday that he called a meeting for next September 2 to all the rectors of higher educational institutions, with the aim of analyzing the scheme that will be executed from the reopening of teaching.

“The idea is to establish a scheme to persuade students and teachers to get vaccinated”, express.

García Fermín spoke on the subject during a meeting with the rector of the Felix Adam Experimental University (Unefa), Nora Rubirosa, and the president of the Board of Directors, Alberto Ramírez Cabral.

Within the framework of the meeting, the official said that work is being done to install mobile vaccination posts in all the country’s universities.

According to a note from Mescyt, García Fermín told the academics that the work is being coordinated with the Health Cabinet, led by Vice President Raquel Peña, and the objective is that students and teachers can be vaccinated during the reopening of teaching.

About the meeting

According to the information provided by Mescyt, the rector of Unefa discussed with the Mescyt minister the possibility of developing training programs, masters and doctorates.

He stressed that the institution he directs, immediately the pandemic arrived in the Dominican Republic, adapted to change and was placed on the train of virtuality, creating structures that facilitate management through the platform of the academy.

“Unefa’s educational model is blended in accordance with our organic statute, in its article 61. Since its foundation, the University has contemplated working both online and blended,” he specified.

While the president of the board of directors, Alberto Ramírez Cabral, said that Unefa has reinforced the quality of services, within its relaunch plan.

Within the framework of the meeting, Unefa awarded a plaque of recognition to García Fermín, for his contribution to the strengthening of higher education in the country, according to a press release.

The administrative vice-rector, Tomas Ramírez; the academic vice-rector, María Ivelisse Herasme and the director of technology, Anderson Henríquez, among others.
