“Mes Veles, Mes Vents”: A Short Film Raising Awareness on Educational and Social Inclusion for Students with Specific Support Needs

Make visible to girls and boys who present specific educational support difficulties, to their families and to the teachers who work to ensure that they are happy and integrated into society. This is the main objective of the short ‘Mes veles, més vents’, written and directed by Alba Jiménez and Nuria Lázaro, teachers at CEIP Veles e Vents, which will premiere during the 35th Alfàs del Pi Film Festival. .

The short stars Amir Brahmi, an 8-year-old boy with autism who studies at Veles e Vents school. The film shows, through the life of this child, the difficulties faced, both educationally and socially, by students with specific educational support needs.

“If we want educational inclusion, we also need social inclusion. This is one of the reasons why we wanted to make this short film from the CEIP Veles e Vents, to publicize the difficulties that it entails, both at an educational level and for families, and the importance of having help in education so that they can be integrated”, highlighted Nuria Lázaro, who directs the short and signs the script with her partner Alba Jiménez.

Both held a meeting this morning with the acting mayor of l’Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques, in which the acting Councilor for Education, Dolores Albero, the acting mayor of Culture, Manuel Casado, the director from CEIP Veles e Vents, Julián López, and Javier Pascual, who has accompanied them on this project as head of production and assistant director.

The short film has been made with the collaboration of Sergio Reyes, from the Image Department of the Alfàs del Pi City Council, and Vicente Martínez, responsible for the images recorded with a drone. The music and the original song ‘More sails, more vents’ have been composed by Joan Pardo, music teacher at the CEIP Veles e Vents.

Filming took place in the educational center itself, in different spaces in the urban area of ​​l’Alfàs del Pi, such as the Plaza Mayor and the esplanade of the Casa de Cultura, and in the Club Náutico de Altea.

Accompanying Amir Brahmi in the interpretation, fifteen schoolchildren from CEIP Veles e Vents, with the collaboration of the teaching team and the rest of the students of the educational center.

The premiere of the short film ‘More sails, more winds’ will take place on July 3 at the Casa de Cultura, during the celebration of the 35th Alfàs del Pi Film Festival. From the City Council, Vicente Arques, Dolores Albero and Manuel Casado wanted to congratulate the teachers, students and management team of the CEIP Veles e Vents for this great project that aims, through cinema, to raise awareness of values ​​and make visible the difficulties faced they face students with special needs and their families.
