REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Islamic Economic Community (MES) has confirmed to entrepreneurs Jusuf Hamka who claim Islamic banks are doing wrong. Secretary General of MES, Iggi H. Achsien said that Jusuf Hamka had apologized.
“I have done tabayyun directly to him, Mr. Jusuf Hamka said that he was coordinating with the OJK, he also apologized and said he did not mean to offend sharia and Islamic banks in general,” he said. Republika.co.id, Saturday (24/7).
According to him, the Islamic banking industry as one of the elements in the Islamic economy in Indonesia is in the stage of consolidation towards revival. There is a role for OJK to regulate and supervise.
There is a MUI DSN which participates in guarding its sharia aspects in order to comply with the fatwa from the MUI DSN. For this reason, MES urges all parties to prioritize tabayyun. In order for the parties to respect the agreement that has been made and resolve with the steps in the corridor morality.
“Don’t let the media be used as a customer settlement option whose potential impact is actually counterproductive,” he said.
The industry still requires constructive critical thinking to improve and perfect the operations of Islamic banks and Islamic finance as a whole. However, MES urges all parties to put the interests of socialization and education about sharia economics to the wider community as a priority that is more important than the interests of each party.
